In 2009, Miller was placed No. 6 on the Forbes list of Top-Earning Athletes of the 2010 Winter Olympics, alongside Shaun White, Lindsey Vonn, Ted Ligety, and a few others. In the year, Miller earned a whopping $1.3 million.

The United States Olympic Committee pays $25 thousand as a bonus for gold. So, his earnings from bonuses are around $100 thousand. The bonus amount is relatively low compared to other countries. In fact, Malaysian gold winner gets a bonus amount worth $600 thousand.     

Endorsements & Earnings

Miller earns a great deal of money with his endorsement deals. Prior to his participation for the 2006 Turin Games, he accumulated $4 million alone in endorsement deals, Fox Business reports.

Miller endorses brands including Nike, Visa, Pagnella Ski Resort, Hublot, Hot Gear, Madhouse Munchies Barilla (an Italian pasta company) and Head, a ski manufacturer.

Despite all the accolades, Miller is often remembered for his underwhelming performance at the 2006 Winer Games held in Turin.

Where expectations were sky high, Miller failed to pull out his best. During the 2006 Winter Games, Miller finished just two of his five races and failed to secure top 3 spots in either of them.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Miller recalled the event, saying,  

"I just did it my way. I'm not a martyr, and I'm not a do-gooder. I just want to go out and rock. And man, I rocked here...It's been an awesome two weeks. I got to party and socialize at an Olympic level."
