David Scott Simon, professionally known as Scott Simon is an American journalist and the host of Weekend Edition Saturday on NPR. His father Ernie Simon is a comedian and his mother Patricia Lyons is a renowned actress.
His childhood was awesome as he grew up in different major cities including Washington D.C., Montreal, Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Canada with his siblings.

At the age of 16, Simon lost his father. After the death of her husband, his mother Patricia Lyons later married Ralph G. Newman, an author and a former minor league baseball player who owns the Abraham Lincoln Bookshop in Chicago. Simon is a graduate of Nicholas Senn High School.
At the beginning of his career, Simon worked at several media stations, and in 1977, he landed a job at NPR as Chicago bureau chief, where he served for over 3 decades.
