Sabina Gartaula Mon May, 2018

Met Gala is the fashion’s biggest night, and it is an event awaited by fashionistas every year. With absurd yet racy themes, Met Gala does not fail to become one of the top topics to talk about every year. Moreover, when someone talks about Met Gala, the first celebrity name that pops up is Rihanna.

Bad girl Riri has been slaying the Met Gala carpet every year by nailing the theme of the year and seizes the event every year. This year too, she did the same thing by dressing up as the Pope.

Well, let's walk down the memory lane, and list down Riri’s top three Met Gala looks. Keep on reading to know which our top picks are.

3. Met Gala 2009: The Model As Muse

The 2009’s theme of Met Gala was ‘The Model As Muse,’ and for this theme, Rihanna went out of her element and spread a menswear vibe while still looking feminine and elegant at the same time.

For the Gala, she sported a tux by Dolce & Gabbana. The shiny black tux had an over the bouffant shoulder. Adding the fact that the formal pants looked more like leggings and were over the ankle length complemented her height.

Likewise, the bow tie and the black heels she paired the tux with added more element to Riri’s look. She indeed looked rocked the carpet with the look as there are only a few who can rock a pant on the red carpet

2. Met Gala 2015: China Through The Looking Glass

Riri’s 2015’s Met Gala look might be one of the most talked about looks of all time, and all might not be for good reasons.

There were many memes made regarding her dress and some even photoshopped a pizza on her train which was very funny. But for her, the look was stunning and nailed the Met Gala theme of the year, i.e. ‘China Through The Looking Glass.’

She sported a yellow gown by Guo Pei, and she looked no less than a Chinese Empress. Even the designer himself said, ‘only women who have the confidence of a queen could wear it.’ And we do not think anyone can deny that Rihanna looked less than a queen in the gown.

A woman made the dress, and it took her two years to make. Likewise, the Umbrella singer accentuated the look by adding some head accessories which we cannot get enough of.

Some Honorable Mentions.

  • Met Gala 2018: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination

The theme of Met Gala 2018 might be one of the most controversial ones to date, and it was so palpable that someone would offend some group of people. But shockingly, that did not happen and everyone who walked down the carpet, and impressed the world with the stunning looks.

Rihanna was indeed one of the top ones followed by Cardi B as despite being a debutant and pregnant at the same time, she dressed like no one imagines.

1. Met Gala 2017: Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between

Met Gala 2017 was the day for Riri as she slayed the theme and the carpet of the event in a floral dress designed by Comme des Garçons. While she made many heads turn with the dress, she also honored the designer but sporting her piece.

Her hair in a bun with bangs and a makeup that looked ramp ready she was indeed the best dressed of the year. The dress was one of the pieces from the designer’s Fall 2016 runway and words are not enough to describe how incredible the Grammy-winning singer looks in it.
